Mundra Port is the largest private port in India, and it takes pride in offering an array of services and facilities for the thousands of seafarers it welcomes every year. We met Captain Anubhav Jain, Head of Marine Services at Mundra Port, during our events in Mumbai last November (read more here) and he told us what seafarers can expect when they visit the port.

On average each year, Mundra Port receives around 3,300 ships and 65,000 seafarers of a wide range of nationalities. The Seaman’s Club, Mundra has been developed by the port and is located near the tug berth in Adani Port. Seafarers calling at Mundra are encouraged to go ashore and make use of the centre. If transport is needed, seafarers can make contact with the centre through Facebook or by phone on +91 9879381387 to arrange free transport to and from their berths.

The Seaman’s Club, Mundra welcomes seafarers with complimentary soft drinks on arrival. A wide range of cuisines is available at the centre’s café and seafarers can take advantage of free WiFi, currency exchange/remittance services and a duty-free shop with souvenirs and handicrafts during their visit.

Recreational facilities to help visiting seafarers relieve stress include a pool table and musical instruments. Excursions to nearby tourist attractions are encouraged – the centre will organise transport and accommodation for seafarers wishing to do some sightseeing.

Captain Anubhav Jain was one of those active in starting and promoting the centre when it opened in July 2015: ‘As a former seafarer, I know how important it is to get off the ship and have some shore leave. The club in Adani Port provides a welcome for seafarers and services that they need. ‘Happy shore leave’ is our motto.’

Do you run a seafarers’ centre which is not yet featured in our Seafarer Centre Directory, or would you like to see your centre featured on our website and/or social media pages? If so, please contact us at seafarersdirectory@iswan.org.uk.
