The ITF Seafarers' Trust will be holding a 'Seafarers Welfare Matters seminar' in London on Thursday 22nd March 2012, from 13.30hrs registration, 14.00hrs start to 17.00hrs, at Church House, 27 Great Smith Street, London SW1. It is hoped that the MLC will be ratified in 2012 and come into force in 2013. Title 4.4 of that convention makes provision for seafarers' welfare.
The trust hopes that the Seminar will give the maritime industry an opportunity to overview the provisions and its implementation, and to share with others good practice and experience worldwide in the provision of welfare for seafarers. The seminar will be chaired by Peter Swift, formerly of INTERTANKO, with Speakers and participants from the ITF Seafarers Trust, Government Representatives, ICS/ISF, IMHPA, ICMA, Seafarerhelp, ICSW, SRI, Welfare workers, IMHA and MPHRP.
