ISWAN's work for seafarers' welfare was honoured this week at The Seafarers' Charity's 106th Annual Meeting in London.
The event was held at the historic Watermen's Hall, where HRH The Duke of Edinburgh joined The Seafarers' Charity's guests in recognising the vital work of seafarers and emphasising the importance of their safety at sea.
During the event, The Duke of Edinburgh presented ISWAN with the President's Award for making an outstanding contribution to seafarers' welfare and safety through collaboration and innovation. CHIRP Maritime and Fishing into the Future also received President's Awards.
The Seafarers' Charity is a core funder and long-term supporter of ISWAN. We are extremely grateful for this partnership and honoured for our work to be recognised with this award.
Deborah Layde, Chief Executive at The Seafarers' Charity, also announced new safety initiatives at the Annual Meeting, including a maritime safety podcast by CHIRP Maritime and partnerships with The National Federation of Fishermen’s Organisations and Lloyd's Register Foundation.
